KUALA Lumpur-based startup incubator and accelerator Tune Labs has made a “strategic investment” of an undisclosed amount into travel planning platform Touristly.
This comes in the wake of Touristly being a finalist at Pitch@Palace Malaysia, organised by Tune Labs in partnership with The Duke of York and AirAsia. The travel startup will get to pitch at the global Pitch@Palace event at St James’ Palace in the United Kingdom in December.

August 8, 2016: Malaysian travel platform Touristly has landed strategic investment from KL-based Tune Labs – an incubator and accelerator headed by AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, and Lim Kiang Onn.
Along with the investment, Touristly will also integrate its activities with companies and brands in the Tune Group, such as AirAsia’s Travel 3Sixty, Tune Hotels, Tune Protext, and AirAsia BIG.
Touristly was launched in 2015 as a platform that enables travelers to customize holidays with ease. A central feature on Touristly is the interactive trip planner that allows travellers to curate their own holidays with the thousands of deals available on the platform, share their itineraries, and book them.
The startup currently offer 7,000 deals on tours, attractions, activities, spas and restaurants in over 70 destinations, and will be adding more around the world.

The green technology company provides solutions for bio-gas harvesting, storage, treatment, and carbon reduction monitoring for palm oil mills.

Malaysian travel startup Touristly, having recently sealed a partnership with AirAsia BIG Loyalty, will now offer concierge service to Tune Hotels, the sister company to budget airline AirAsia Bhd.
Touristly, an integrated travel platform offering holidaymakers a one-stop centre for customisable itinerary, has partnered Tune Hotel to provide the latter’s customers access to its platform for holiday planning.

THE first Pitch@Palace in Malaysia was held in Kuala Lumpur on June 28, with 14 startups pitching to an audience of corporate leaders for two spots to the main Pitch@Palace Global at St James’ Palace in the United Kingdom in December.
With the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, and AirAsia group chief executive officer Tony Fernandes in attendance, a “zoned out” Christy Ng of christyng.com and Aaron Sarma of Touristly won themselves these trips to the United Kingdom.

DAVAO CITY — CrowdPlus.asia will be formally launched as the first crowdfunding platform for the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines-East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) on May 11, when information and communication technology (ICT) leaders meet in Brunei.
Samuel R. Matunog, president of the ICT-Davao group who has been appointed chair of the BIMP-EAGA’s 2016 ICT CEO Forum next week, said the crowdfunding platform will provide wider financing opportunities for the region’s entrepreneurs, particularly the technology start-ups.

A new mobile-based electronic game system has been launched to introduce critical math skills to children. Using a series of games intended for students in grades K-6, Zap Zap Math takes children through space-themed math challenges designed to encourage players to win points at the same time they develop academic skills.
Zap Zap Math also provides parents with a learning progress dashboard, a portal for parents and teachers to remotely monitor how a child is progressing in each learning topic and helping them to focus on certain ones that require attention. Parents or teachers can log in to the dashboard on either a computer or mobile device and monitor their children’s work in real time.

We gave it four stars due to its colorful and entertaining way of enticing kids to work on math problems. Now, developer Visual Math Interactive has updated the app, and we thought we’d see what they’ve added.
